Light of the World
Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, ‘I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.’ - John 8:12 NKJV
The Son, Jesus, is a direct reflection of His and our Heavenly Father. His light shines bright for all to see because He is made of the same spiritual DNA of His father. The Pharisees were upset that Jesus would speak so boldly of himself, but He told them that His Father also testified of who He was. They knew neither.
In the sermon on the mount, Jesus tells His disciples that they are the light of the world. Once we accept Christ and step into the fullness of who He is, we become the sons and daughters of God. So just like Jesus, we have the same spiritual DNA as our Father.
You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lamp stand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16 NKJV
As He is, so are we in the world. Let your the glory of God shine as a light from you and encounter every person with whom you come into contact.
