RABBONI (TEACHER)

Jesus saith unto her, ‘Mary.’ She turned herself, and saith unto him, ‘Rabboni’; which is to say, Master. - John 20:16 KJV

As we look at this passage of scripture, we find Mary recognizing Jesus with a specific name: RABBONI, which means Master/Teacher. Mary had seen and witnessed Jesus do so many different things, but she acknowledged him as RABBONI (teacher) who he was to her. It was the revelation of a personal relationship she had with Jesus.

In a world that is ever changing and at constant discord, may we be able to come IN HIS NAME as who he is to us. I am quickly reminded of the beginning ministry of Jesus in Matthew chapter 5 that, as he saw the multitude follow, he sat and taught them. He wanted to teach them something that they would be able to keep and follow forever. He taught them the Beatitudes, which are still a promise to those who follow HIS teaching.

As you continue to study, may you be able to reveal to others what JESUS is to you. Let us remember Matthew 20:35: “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.” May we reveal to others who Jesus is to us.
