The Closer You Get

In spiritual things there is a phenomena

that is hard to overlook and even tougher to override

and that is our mind, and the way it can be used against us

Here we have had this mind all our life

and it has been in control, it thought,

and suddenly along comes salvation

and we lose our mind and take on the mind of Christ

and our old mind doesn’t like that

and neither does satan so like a dying man

it holds on and scrapes its way along the valley of death

seeking resuscitation and restoration

and remember a body can be revived with one breath,

and it is relentless and will do anything

to stay alive and typically we panic

and panic opens the door for doubt

and doubt ushers in fear

and there you go, it is alive,

our mind now in battle with the mind of Christ

now we know, from afar, who is going to win

but just think of the cost of the battle

it cost you peace, and joy, and time, and it didn’t mean anything

and it wasn’t worth it and it hurts you and the body of Christ

because when people see you, knowing you are born again,

it doesn’t look very appealing to them.

They are already plagued by their mind,

they are already depressed and anxious

so why would they want what you have?

We must strive to let the old man die

and we must feed the new man

and a great deal of that feeding takes place,

of course, with our mouth, so guard your lips

speak the Truth of God

not the truth of satan

speak blessings upon yourself and others, not curses,

not negativity

it requires supernatural awareness

and awesome self control but you can do it

because you have been born with a spirit of love and power

and a sound mind.
