Have Mercy on Me

Have Mercy On Me

I call out the Name of the Lord

and cast off this old garment

which I will never need again

The garment of a beggar,

a blind man, who wearing

an old rag begs mercy

from the passersby

saying fill my hand with coin

my cup with old wine

caring not about filth or disdain

I cast off this garment

never to be worn again

and I call out Jesus, Son of David,

have mercy on me

knowing in my heart

I am healed of my blindness

and that He heard me

and came saying “I heard you call My Name

what is it you want?”

I want to see Lord

I want to be free

no longer hidden in despair

and degradation

but sighted and clean

and He said “Go then

your faith has healed you”

and I rose and walked seeing

my cup filled with His Mercy

my heart healed by His Grace

my body cleansed by His Blood

my feet planted upon the narrow path

of His Way

with the oil of joy upon me.
