AT ODDS
When my burden becomes too heavy
my thoughts too terrifying
to submit to
I call out the Name
above all names
for He is the burden lifter
with His hand He alone
can lighten my load
I first ask forgiveness
because anythingthat is not
of faith is sin
and I have sinned
I have fallen short
of the height
Jesus has placed
the bar
He is my Coach
He knows what I can do
to what height
I can aspire
He seems not to weary of me
I have fallen back
into my old man
before
and He has been there
He doesn’t lower the bar
He just helps me over it
and then when the next one
comes He is standing by
to see how I do
Trust that He will never forsake you
He will not break what is true in you
but He has standards
we must ascend to
I am humbled beyond belief
I am asking for a refill
for my cup
unguarded
has run dry
Fill me dear Lord
