Name: EL ELYOWN – MOST HIGH
Prayer and Meditation:
“I will praise the Lord according to His righteousness and will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High.” Psalm 7:17
The Psalm this meditation is taken from isn’t the typical “happy and feel good.” King David, the author, makes statements such as, “lest they tear me like a lion,” and “yes, let him trample my life to the earth.” However, we can appreciate the realism in his words; it shows us that David suffered and felt emotions just like any other person.
David wraps up these six paragraphs with, “I will praise the Lord…will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High!” In Hebrew, Most High is “Elyown.” At the time this was written, other gods and religions were being declared as “the” god. So, even though David felt like he was at one of his lowest moments, he was giving glory and honor to God, distinguishing that God is above all other gods.
