31 Days of Praise! Day 27

Full-Faced Touch with Christ

You have said, "Seek my face."
My heart says to you,
"Your face, Lord, I do seek."
(Psalm 27:8)

"Seek My face at the beginning of your day..."put Me on" by communicating with Me, the better prepared you are for whatever comes your way. To "wear Me" is essentially to have My mind: to think My thoughts." (Sarah Young, "Jesus Calls," May 27 p154)

"I lift my praise to You, for 'no human imagination can take in the startling, revolutionary power, softly, subtly, but with irresistible sweep, that flows down from the crowned Christ among grateful mean women...through people who simply live in full-faced touch with Christ, and who take that power as the need arises and the sovereign Holy Spirit leads.'" (adapted from SD Gordon via Ruth Myer, "31 Days of Praise" Day 27 pp100-101.)

How amazing it is that we now live in a time in which there is no separation between us and God! The veil was torn, and we can now stand fully in His presence, through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, face to face with Christ, who took on the form of a man and looked us in the eyes.

Previously, no one could live and look upon our Lord, save Moses, whose face was so shining when he returned that no one could look upon him! But then Jesus was glorified. And the absolute intimacy that we have with God now, through Christ, is a gift so great, yet so sweetly simple - "startling, revolutionary power, softly, subtly" - that it might be easy to take for granted.

In that delicious dance of grace and deed, we are filled with the Spirit every day, and yet we are told to actively "put on the Lord Jesus Christ." (Romans 13:14). This is the antidote to taking it for granted - choosing every moment to wear Him, to have a shining face - not of terrifying holiness that Moses reflected, but of startling soft power that was exemplified by Jesus when he walked among us.

For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God's glory displayed in the face of Christ. (2 Corinthians 4:6)

May we - the body of Christ - exude Him; may others see the Lord through us, by the power of the Holy Spirit within, shining out through our gaze, our touch, our walk.

The LORD bless you and keep you,
The LORD make His face shine on you,
And be gracious to you;
The LORD lift up His countenance on you,
And give you peace.
(Numbers 6:25-26)
Amen.

Praise Report!

Lord, I thank You for all the people in my life who have shown me the face of Christ. They have been such an encouragement to me, demonstrating the fruits of the Spirit, and the earthly embodiment of Your heavenly presence and truth. Thank you, Lord, for the saints You place in my path, for Your twinkle in their eyes.
