What He Has Done for Me
a poem by PBS member Julie Evans
What He Has Done for Me
It’s a fresh new day
which I begin by setting right
anything that was disordered
or disturbed in the darkness
and isolation
of the night
I wake free to serve God
unencumbered by the illusion
of encumberment
I refuse satan any foothold
I guard my mind from doubt
and arise to this new day
ready to see what it’s all about.
If the enemy’s nets were cast over me as I slept
I wriggle out of them
and put on the full armor of God
I bind my waist in Truth
I cover my heart with His righteousness
I prepare my feet to walk in love
and stand upon the gospel of peace
and I take up the shield of faith
my head is covered by the helmet of salvation
I push back the quilt and reach for my sword
which is the Word of God
and I arise
fresh, strong, ready
and by the Grace of God
able
to preach the gospel to every creature
the Word that sets captives free
and fortifies the saints of God
The Word that sets us straight
answers our questions
and serves as our operating manual
for this body called human
this adventure called life
My life was created by God
bought and paid for
by the Blood of His beloved Son
That is what the Lord has done.
