40 Day Prayer Commitment Day 21

ISAIAH 62:6-7

6 I have set watchmen upon your walls, O Jerusalem, who will never hold their peace day or night; you who [are His servants and by your prayers] put the Lord in remembrance [of His promises], keep not silence,

7 And give Him no rest until He establishes Jerusalem and makes her a praise in the earth.

Just as earthly nations have people constantly on guard for attack, constantly defending, protecting what is within their borders, so should we be protective of our hearts and minds.

Just as there are those who protect the people within their boundaries, so should we be on guard for the Body of Christ.

1 Peter 5:8 says, "Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the devil walketh about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour." It may not be easy for us to consider that which goes on in the spiritual realms, but would it be necessary for us to "put on the full armor of God" (Ephesians 6:10-18) if we did not "wrestle against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places"?

The ways of the world are seductive, they lull us into sleepy complacency, like a blissful narcotic - hypnotized by screens, by comforts, by sounds and sights, by tastes, by pleasure, by shiny things...even by emotions - sadness, bitterness, lust - even by positive things, such as our families, or jobs...this is what it means to be sober. Do not become intoxicated with the delicacies from garden of earthly delights.

Me must remember to never keep silent (remain in prayer), and to remind the Lord (remember his Word, his Promises), and take no rest (spread the Gospel, be sober-minded), and give Him no rest (continue to praise, to petition, to seek, ask and participate with), until it is clear that the enemy has been overcome once and for all.

We may be pacifists on earth - we may not like the idea of war. But this is not a flesh and blood battle. The Body of Christ must armor herself, and keep her lamps lit. We are to remain like the virgins, standing vigil in the darkness, waiting for our Bridegroom (Matthew 25).
