matthew 6:8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
So, if God knows what we need, why should we pray? Because He wants a relationship with us by talking to Him in prayer. This is illustrated in Abraham's conversation with the Lord about Sodom (Genesis 18:22-33). Abraham asks God to save Sodom if there are 50 righteous people in Sodom, then he asks how about 45, 40, 30, 20, and finally 10 people. This goes on for 11 verses, and it appears that God is enjoying the back and forth with Abraham, even though He knows there are no righteous people in Sodom. God loves this relationship with Him through prayer, even when we ask for the smallest things. We should also pray to praise Him, give Him thanks, and confess our sins.
So, abide with the Lord and keep the lines open with Him.
