Faithful God - El HaNe’eman
One of our favorite verses in the song we just sang is “All my life You have been faithful! And all my Life you have been so so good!” because when I hear those words I’m acknowledging just how faithful He is daily in my life and those who believe in Him. But even those who are lost, who deny or reject Him, He is faithful in His love in pursuing them.
He truly is a “Faithful God” - Over the years, in my walk with the Lord, through trials and sometimes what seemingly felt like a long wilderness experience, He has proven over and over that if I just trust and believe, draw near to Him, He is always faithful to bring it to pass. It truly amazes me every time in how intricately detailed He weaves everything together in ways I could have never thought of or imagined. Many times in the process of waiting, He is teaching me, growing me in my faith and bringing everything to pass in His perfect timing. When we look up the word faithful in the dictionary, it means to be reliable, steadfast, unwavering, dedicated, trustworthy, dependable and devoted.
People will often fail and disappoint us. But God is always there. He is working it all out.
Deuteronomy 7:9 (AMP) gives us insight into who God is.
“9 Therefore know [without any doubt] and understand that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God, who is keeping His covenant and His [steadfast] loving-kindness to a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments;”
The Lord your God is God, the faithful God – it is who He is at His essence, faithful. In Hebrew His name iEl Hanne’eman, the faithful God.
This word shows up throughout the Old Testament, always with some idea of security or steadiness. Strong’s concordance says the idea portrays certainty. God is He who can be relied on. He supports, holds up and steadies.
“Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.” - Lamentations 3:22-23 (NKJ)
The word Mercies (in Hebrew) refers to the steadfast love or covenant loyalty of the Lord. When you wake in the morning, God will always be there. One of my favorite scriptures is Psalm 139 - verse 7-8
Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? And in verse 17-18 says “How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I could count them, they would outnumber the sand. When I awake, I am still with You.”
During these times of uncertainty, we need to cling to Gods faithfulness.
In life we may stumble and fall. But there is One who is firm, who is secure. We can rely on Him always because His true name is Faithful. He will never let us down and will always fulfill His promises. Always!
“If we are faithless, He remains faithful [true to His word and His righteous character], for He cannot deny Himself” ~ 2 Timothy 2:13
