ABBA/ FATHER
The following are great scripture passages to read when meditating on the name Abba/Father:
1) When Jesus is addressing the Lord, knowing the sacrifice he is about to endure:
“Abba, Father,” he said, “everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.”- Mark 14:36
2) Jesus discussing his divinity/ relationship with the Lord with the seventy-two followers he is sending out to preach the gospel in other towns; he is clarifying why some may remain in unbelief, because they do not understand this relationship/ Christ’s Lordship:
“All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and no one knows who the Father is except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.” - Luke 10:22
3) Paul sharing with the Galatians the adoption we receive as God’s children when we have the Holy Spirit in our hearts; we get to call God Abba/Father, just as Jesus did in the passage above.
Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.” - - Galatians 4:6
