Day 17: Sar Shalom

Prince of Peace: Sar Shalom

“For unto us a child is born, to us a Son is given and the government will be on His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (Sar Shalom) - Isaiah 9:6

Jesus did not come to grant us strife free living.

  • John 16:33

  • James 1:2

  • 1 Peter 4:12

Peace/Shalom means:

  • Spiritual harmony and oneness with God

  • Inner well being

  • Wholeness

We are given this oneness with God when we trust in Jesus Christ as our Savior and it is a oneness that is guaranteed forever.

  • Colossians 1:15-20

  • Romans 5:1

  • John 16:33

  • Philippians 4:6-7

How might knowing this help you when you face trials, wars, and strife?

When we are in Christ and ushered into Shalom with God, we are given the Holy Spirit to empower us to live out of our oneness.

  • John 14:18

  • John 16:7-15

  • Ephesians 1:13-14

How might the gift of the Holy Spirit help to bring peace with those around us?

  • Galatians 5:22

Ponder this statement: When we ask for peace we are asking for more of Him. (Jesus)

How might this statement affect your thinking regarding the hope of peace among peoples and nations? What actions might it encourage you or spur you on to?

When Christ returns we will be gifted with a new heaven and a new earth and peace will reign not only within us but all around us for Satan will be defeated and complete harmony for all of creation will be experienced by those who are in Christ.

  • Revelation 21:1-4
