Day 15: Jehovah Jireh

Jehovah Jireh (YWHW Yireh) – The Lord Will Provide

“Then Abraham lifted his eyes and looked, and there behind him was a ram caught in a thicket by its horns. So Abraham went and took the ram, and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son. And Abraham called the name of the place, The-Lord-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, “In the Mount of the Lord it shall be provided.
- Genesis 22:13-14

The name Jehovah Jireh was declared at a point of provision made by the Lord but as a foreshadowing to another point in time where the greatest and most important provision would be made by God; the sacrifice of God’s own Son, Jesus Christ on Calvary. While God had stopped the hand of Abraham’s knife he would not spare the nails of the cross to carry out His ultimate provision; His Body broken and His blood shed for all mankind.

As you go into a time of prayer today come to Him with a posture of Thanksgiving for the provision He has made. Because it is by this One provision He’s provided to us “all things pertaining to life and godliness”.

Lord, we thank you that you are Jehovah Jireh, our provider. The gift You’ve given is enough! Your Grace is enough! Your Love is enough! You have satisfied my soul by the works of Your hands. When we forget where our help comes from; we’re reminded to lift our eyes to the hills. Again we thank you for all that You have provided in Christ Jesus. We receive it and we believe it, amen!
